Lovely Ventura
Julie Doughty | September 10, 2017 | P&O Cruises | Ventura
Just returned from a Canaries cruise on Ventura.
Embarkation at Southampton was very good, on board before our allotted time and on boarding the ship was told our cabins were ready and the cases were outside, very impressed and a good start to our holiday.
Muster was a bit chaotic as a lot of people were in a small space plus now you have to show your cruise card, which is a good idea but think this added to the hecticness.
Our balcony cabin was on c deck , and so we had the bigger balcony which was great. Naya was our cabin steward and kept the cabin spotless.
We had an issue with the toilet in our cabin but we rang reception and it was dealt with promptly.
We had three days at sea which we enjoy as we can relax and just enjoy the ship. We visited Madeira, Tenerife , Gran Canaria and Lanzarote. We did one organised tour and the rest of the time did our own thing, we had another sea day then visited Lisbon before two more sea days.
Our cruise experience was great, food we found to be very good. On our first night we went to Sindhu as there was a special offer on, it made it very reasonable and was a great dining experience.
We did freedom dining and the service we got was excellent.
We have been on Ventura before but it’s been four years since our last time on her and I had read reviews saying how shabby and tired it was looking. There were certain areas like on the stairwells that carpets were looking worn but on the whole we thought the ship looked very good. We were impressed by how often we saw different areas being cleaned around the ship.
Entertainment we found to be very good and there were different venues so if one act didn’t appeal you could go to another venue to watch something else.
Staff on ship we found to be very pleasant and there was a lovely atmosphere on board.
We did self disembarkation for the first time as we wanted to be off ship early. This worked very well for us, the only thing was getting in the lifts! They were rather busy so in the end we hauled the cases down the stairs to where we needed to be.
A very enjoyable cruise on the lovely Ventura.
