Maiden cruise to Caribbean islands on Ventura

My partner and I have just returned from 14 nights on Ventura, we had no expectations as never done a cruise before but wanted to visit the Caribbean and what a wonderful, relaxing way to do it.However – it could be V V tiring if you didnt have some plan for each day as the ship was massive and SO much going on. We didnt go on any o the P and O excursions as didnt want to be clock watching and it was SO easy just to plan our own with the tourist info at each port (loads cheaper too) We found the food to be excellent, good choice and nicely presented, room service just fantastic (at no extra cost if stuck to set menu) Our cabin was v v comfy and well equipped, the steward could not have been nicer. The days iteneray sheet, left outside our door each eve was really helpful in planning our days and also what entertainment we wanted to see. We were not so keen on the very big pool areas with row after row of sun beds but just went to the smaller ones instead. Our overall opinion was fantastic value for money, felt really safe, really helpful staff, plenty going on if you wanted it but cabin so lovely nice to have peace and quiet on the balcony. I would be struggling to find fault but if I was being picky I found the aircraft and service in flight awful – we upgraded – but would never do that again – just not worth ?œ200 each, very dirty plane – loo was horrid and the staff very offhand and dis interested. Also – girls- if you taking your lovely evening gowns you will DEF need a wrap I was frozen in the main dining room and the bars as the air conditioning is v v fierce ! – Great for the blokes in their jackets but I was very cold in the evenings. Would def go on a cruise again. we found the on board spending (drinks etc) very reasonable and handy to keep check on your TV each night.
