Ventura 2/4-7/4/2014 and 16/7-23/7/2014
Mrs.E.J.Moore | September 1, 2014 | P&O Cruises | Ventura
We joined the Ventura for her first sail of the season around Italy, from Genoa to Venice, in April There were one or two teething problems getting 2-3 thousand passengers to and from the airports but that was down to the inefficiency of the Italian airport staff (overwhelmed by the numbers) not by the well-oiled P and O machine. We enjoyed this one week cruise so much;we were upgraded to a junior suite, were looked after by very attentive staff , the food was plentiful in the day with sensible portions in the evenings and we met some very interesting and entertaining fellow passengers. I was quite amused to read some of the complaints and negative comments on these reviews when we returned because I wondered how we had all been on the same ship. You are either a half-full or a half empty person I suppose! The destinations were so interesting that we wished we had done the two weeks, so we booked the ‘ second leg’ in July and were not disappointed. The airport problems were ironed-out and we had another fabulous cruise.I did hear people complaining that they felt meals and extra touches were being pared back but if you want high end luxury then you pay twice the price and go with a different cruise line. We thought it was excellent value for money and would not hesitate to recommend P and O and Bolsover for delivering two unforgetable holidays especially as we understand this is the last year the big ships will be allowed to sail in and out of Venice, which was a privilege in itself.
