Ventura Holiday

This was our 7th cruise on Ventura and we like the ship. Over the years we have noticed some slight changes but find it a friendly ship with just about the right amount of formality. However, we decided on one occasion after a busy day not to go to the formal evening so dressed in our casual but smart attire and went to the buffet . We were amazed just how popular this was. The food was excellent, there was no rushing and apart from one or two people in formal dress, everyone else was enjoying a casual meal and it was so good, we repeated this a second time. We now wonder if this is the case on any of the other ships, especially on the Britannia which we are already booked on.
Not being interested in dancing, we like to see what other events are on offer and I was delighted to see an art class this time and run superbly by Carol Hill. Along with many others, we thought this was the best event on the entire cruise and it was so popular almost all places were taken up half an hour before each class started.
The other entertainment was very good and the food was as good as ever. Even the weather was very good with no rain for the 17 days!! One of the best cruises we have been on and interesting to see new destinations as we visited Crete and some other Greek islands. We were surprised to find out that this was the first time the ship had docked in Crete and they gave us a wonderful send off with their band. One of very few complaints was the coach trip in Crete which was excellent, didn’t make any photo stops and we passed some wonderful scenery of a new lake/dam being formed and from the hills it looked superb, but we passed car and coach parking facilities but no stop until we got to a monastery and then the scenery was different.
