I travelled on the Ventura on the 21st November 2009 to the Caribbean.
We flew from East Midlands which was really convenient and check in only took around 10 minutes. The flight was great and not having to re-claim any luggage was even better. The flight was with Tompson’s and was great! The free bar was even better! We were transferred to the ship straight away which took around 40-45 minutes. Again we only waited around 10/15 minutes to go through the check-in process at the port and have our photos taken. Everything was very well organised and all staff were happy to help and were always smiling.
I couldn’t believe the size of Ventura, she is massive!!!
The ship itself was very modern and beautifully decorated, however i felt the Atrium was very small for the size of the ship. The ship being as big as it is i felt all public areas on-board were quite small and intimate.
The cabin itself was nice and spacious for the 2 of us but I did fine the bathroom very small. The welcome pack in the room detailed everything we needed to know about the dinning and tipping etc which was very helpful. The daily newspaper, Horizon was great and very useful, especially for those who have never cruised before. It also detailed daily activities around the ship and the time of the shows and entertainment at a night time. Our cabin Steward was Darcie, he was very efficient and friendly and introduced himself within 10 minutes of finding our cabin. Our luggage arrived about an hour after being on the ship which I thought was very good to say the amount of passengers who were embarking the ship.
There was a mixed variety of food on board offering theme buffet nights and a mixed variety of food on offer in the restaurants. Around the pool there were all sorts to choose from from pizza’s to burgers to ice-creams etc which really catered for everyone.
Overall I feel the ships facilities on board are aimed at an all-round market from young children up to elderly and single passengers, as well as past passengers too.
Overall a fantastic cruise!!
