Western Med Early October 2017

Decided to have an early autumn break to prolong the summer and that was just what we got. Started in Southampton on a wet Sunday afternoon with a smooth embarkation leaving the car with CPS, no hassle there. Hadn’t been on Ventura since our first cruise 8 years ago we loved her then and we were not disappointed this time. Some of the soft furnishings are a little worn which I suspect is why she has a refit booked for next year. Apart from that the ship was in pretty good nick!

Service was cheerful and efficient and not too OTT. The food appears to have taken a step up since last cruise on Azura in January. We were particularly impressed by the entertainment manager who had a lovely manner and a light touch setting the tone for her team, not too Hi Dee Hi!

Generally the entertainment was very good with some excellent and the odd mediocre.

Very lucky with the weather for October. Just got caught out by cold and drizzly Florence. Elsewher it was sunshine all the way and around 23 degrees. The ship coped well with the force 12 in the Gulf of Leon apparently the 12 degree list is normal in this sort of cross wind. Bay of Biscay was a millpond and disembarkation was completely uneventful.
