Fantastic cruise ship, but

This was our first cruise with Regent and we were impressed with the ship, the staff, the cabin and the food. It was clearly the best cruise line we have been on but at ?1,000 per day for a Concierge Suite it should be. The pre cruise overnight stop in Venice was not particularly well organised, partly due to us not being kept informed by the Italian staff and the hotel room was clearly the cheapest type of room available.
We did not book another cruise whilst on board for the simple reason that the internet service was awful. Only when we got on board did we discover that only one device per cabin at any one time was permitted and this was annoying but of more concern we simply could not get a connection from within our cabin for much of the cruise and when we did it would continually disconnect. Whilst the IT manager on board was very helpful as many passengers were having difficulty using Regent’s complicated log on procedure the situation did not improve although we were advised that technicians had been on board for several weeks trying to sort the problem. This may seem like an irrelevance in the context of a luxury cruise but when you offer unlimited wifi please provide a proper service. Many business people on board found the scenario very frustrating.
Would we book again – probably not – the concensus of opinion from the people we spoke to was the Crystal Cruises provided a better experience.
