Cruise ship fabulous – excursions?
Roger Houghton | December 27, 2016 | Regent Seven Seas Cruises | Seven Seas Mariner
The ship Seven Seas Mariner had just completed a top-to-toe refurbishment, and it was even better than the last two times we have been on it. It is very difficult to fault the ship in any way! Service is exemplary, food is wonderful, every need is catered for, including our choice of drinks in the cabin. We were looked after really well by the Steward, Ketut, or “King Tut” as I decided he should be called!
However, whilst there were NO COMPLAINTS within the ship, the excursions had one or two easily resolvable problems. Firstly, I should point out that the weather (which Regent do NOT, unfortunately control) was atrocious. This did not excuse the tour operator when they took us to the top of mount Erice in Sicily, deposited us there in the cloud, cold and rain, and informed us that we would have to meet the whole group back at the cable car to get down the mountain again! It was so cold that I had to buy my Wife a jacket! They could so easily have either let us go back down individually or brought the bus up to meet us. Second problem, although it was one of the best tours we went on, was the Valetta Harbour Cruise. If you are sending us out on a boat, Regent, PLEASE make sure there are enough seats available! One hour standing up touring the three harbours is more than enough for anyone!
These were my main complaints and, while they may not seem much, Regent is a six star cruise line, and should organise the excursions better.
The final recommendation, though, is that we WILL go again on a Regent ship, probably Mariner.
