Finally back on the water
Andy Chance | July 12, 2021 | Royal Caribbean International | Anthem of the Seas
For all those cruisers out there I apologise its been over 2 years since my last confession (sorry I meant review).
No surprises in that but it’s great to finally have a break from the same four walls and try something different albeit with restrictions in place.
So from an inclement Southampton, we set sail on Anthem of the Seas for the first UK break for Royal Caribbean since COVID curtailed everyone’s enjoyment
I don’t know if it was the fact that the crew were so glad to be back but the level service we received was some of the best I have received on ship, nothing was too much trouble everyone was extremely polite and I genuinely think like us they were happy to be back.
The ship itself was spotless, all staff and guests indoors wearing facemasks, sanitizing stations were everywhere and you could see cleaning and maintaining the safety of guests was a top priority.
Tables in the restaurants were all distanced with clear notices, seats in the shows were exactly the same and in the main theatre, every other row was clearly marked as closed off for distancing and staff ask parties to sit with a minimum of 3 seats apart.
This didn’t detract from the entertainment and ‘We Will Rock You’ was the best show I have seen onboard. North Star was restricted to 5 guests in the pod again with clearly marked distancing on the floor. Bumper cars in Sea Plex were sanitized and cleaned before the next group.
Our cabin was modern, spacious and with a balcony and plenty of storage space, the design & layout of the cabin decks seem more spacious than some, and passing in the corridors was not an issue due to the recesses of each cabin entrance.
Windjammer restaurant had a wide array of food styles and staff were on hand to help with anyone with dietary needs. My only disappointment was the food in the main restaurant I find to be lacking so Windjammer became my dining venue of choice as the speciality restaurants were fully booked so not able to try something unusual.
I will try to post more photo’s on the website including those to show distancing and how this was displayed but it’s good to be back!
