Not as brilliant as I thought it would be
Heather | April 28, 2018 | Royal Caribbean International | Anthem of the Seas
We have just returned from a 3 day voyage on Anthem of the Seas. I must admit I don??t know what to say about her. She looks like she will appeal to families with teenage children. The roller skating and bumper cars + Flow rider would appeal to this age set. Oasis with the water playground would suit younger cruisers. The ship didn??t seem to flow on moving around and I kept getting lost. No paper wallet sized map nor pen/paper in your stateroom. No chocolate on the pillow either but tea tray is back in.
The check-in and disembarkation were very swift. I am not too sure about ??mobile?? check-in at Southampton as it looked like a ??free for all?? trying to catch some-one to book us in.
The plus points to the ship was much larger lifts and touch screen information boards on display by the lifts. The inside staterooms have a webcam projection wall which gave the feeling on not being an inside cabin but a balcony. Very clever.
Service was very poor for drinks. No bar service on deck or in Windjammer. Only one serving in the Solarium and he was rushed off his feet making ??smoothies?? which took some time. He suggested we try another bar as he would be a long time on smoothies. I think he was making them for the ??Devine?? restaurant. It stands to reason that if a holiday is ??all inclusive?? people will drink more but obviously RCI had not considered more staff were needed. You had to ask what beers and wine were available on the offer of ??inclusive?? and one night at dinner the only white wine was chardonnay no sauvignon blanc.
Dinner is now 3 courses and menu was on paper cards ?? I suppose another cost cutting idea but breakfast had English bacon and sausages. The shops on board were far too expensive for the English market ie. Bulgari.
The ship still needs a lot of ??bedding in?? but I much prefer the ??bling?? on Oasis as the Anthem is a little bland.
