Brian Mundy | April 26, 2019 | Royal Caribbean International | Independence of the Seas
Just returned from a Mediterranean cruise on Independent of the seas. It is a great ship but we constantly had a problem at night to get a seat in any of the bars after coming out of the show at 10pm. Although there are several bars there are too many people to accommodate. Also I strongly object to having to pay $15 per person for a shuttle car at the ports. We found it much cheaper to get a taxi and more comfortable. In Gibralter we hired a mini bus which took us up the rock stopping at the usual sites, and was able to go much higher than the coaches and at a far less price.
Our stateroom with a balcony was great, the food was very good, but again to have to spend an extra $30 to eat in the Grille cafe was extortionate, and we decided to give it a miss.
The waiter service was excellent especially at dinner with Wilmer and Saravanan and the entertainment was also very good, the costumes and scenery was great.
Overall we had a lovely holiday, but I do think Royal Caribbean should consider the short comings I have I have noted,
