Quantum of the Seas

As this was the first cruise I had ever been on I felt an overwhelming excitement from the moment I found out I would do a mini cruise and be one of the first people to be on board and enjoying ALL or as many of the different entertainment, attractions and activities that this ship had to offer. As we headed to board the ship it was clear from the dock that my imagination was way off as to how magnificent and imposing she would be. The check in facility was very quick and from the first person we met to the very last, the customer service was amazing. Everyone was so helpful and wanted to say hello and ask how the cruise was going throughout out the whole journey. After we had been and dropped off our case in the cabin, which was perfectly laid out and made maximum use of space and storage, we ventured out to see what the ship had to offer. We spent the first night visiting different bars and restaurants to try and get the whole dining experience. The said venues all offered small samples off the menus and drinks that were to be offered for future sailings. As a big fan of food this was AMAZING! For the evening we dined in Jamie Oliver’s restaurant and was blown away by both the service from our waiter, his knowledge and guidance on choice of dishes and lastly but by no means least the food, by far the best I have eaten/tasted for a very long time. During the next day we we entertained by various activities on board including, the Seaplex for dodgems, roller skating, Circus school, Ripcord by iFly – the skydive simulator and North Star. The only thing that I didn’t do was the FlowRider as it was bitterly cold but went to see the Pro’s in action later that day. For the evening we went to watch Mama Mia, which in all honesty I was not looking forward to as this is not my cup of tea. My opinion was truly transformed, the show was fantastic with great songs, explosive energy and a great cast. We dined in the Grande restaurant that evening, unfortunately there was a queue for our table as this was by far one of the busiest eating venues, this did not in anyway take from the great service and food that were sampled, including escargot, which was in a garlic cream sauce and actually very tasty. After and evening of eating and entertainment we finished off in the music room for night caps and live music. The only disappointment was that I didn’t have a longer stay on board to enjoy all the other food venues and experience everything else that the SmartShip has to offer. Overall my whole experience from first sight to disembarking was one of pleasure and awe at the truly magnificent ship that is Quantum of the Seas.
