A very enjoyable cruise, good weather and smooth seas on the whole. Our balcony junior suite was very spacious and well laid out. We had a water leak which wet our carpet and we had to tolerate a large blow dryer for a couple of days. We complained about this and an engineer found the problem and eventually we had a dry carpet and a sweeter smelling cabin. Then our sink tap wouldn’t turn off! Again this was sorted. Guest services were very contrite about these problems. A bottle of wine, a lovely meal in Giovannis Italian restaurant and the cost of our shore excursion to Athens refunded made us feel a lot better.
Our cabin was quite noisy as it was directly under deck 9 which is where the pool, sunbeds, jacuzzi, etc are. Loto of scraping, trollies moving around quite late at night was a bit of a bind. Our cabin number was 8560 for reference.
One last moan. I have Coeliac disease which means I can only eat gluten free food which has to be prepared in a separate area of the kitchen. When we booked the cruise Royal Caribbean recommended I only eat in the main restaurant. The staff were very attentive and I was well looked after in this the Eidelweiss . The staff were lovely and I ordered my dinner the day before. However it was closed when we were in port which was every day bar two. I had to eat on the ship at lunchtime as I would have found it very tricky to find gluten free food ashore. So we lunched in the Windjammer which was a buffet style restarrant and therefore at risk of cross contamInation from gluten containing food. There was a counter serving GF but it was abyssmal. EVERYDAY Curry and rice, bit of green salad, roast spicyou potatoes and an Indian style soup and a custard style sweet like creme brulet . Other passengers were using it too who were not Coeliacs. All in all I managed but some days I was still hunary.
Having said all of the above we enjoyed the cruise. Drinks packages were available but we didn’t take them up as we are not big drinkers and it would not have been worth it. The evending entertainment and daytime activities were excellent. We were well recompensed for our cabin problems and some of the staff we got to know well.
We met some lovely people from other countries and really enjoyed meeting them and we had some great laughs.
