Impressive-But……

Generally high standards of food and service with some staff re-training issues. Standard Cabin well fitted out and comfortable but shower door dangerous in rough weather as it is free to open both ways on its hinges. Plenty of toiletries and good quality towels. Cabin supplies included fruit and carton of long life milk on arrival. Furniture in public areas badly designed, poor back support and uncomfortable. Library, well stocked but confusing layout ( signage for books very small , including the sign for “ large print” ). Lift buttons in the lifts difficult to see/access due to dim lighting. Book a Speciality Restaurant ASAP after boarding to eat the rush! Lengthy queues developed for breakfast buffet in the Lido and also at lunchtime. Good choice of food and it as hot. Open dining works best if you are prepared to share a table in the Grand Restaurant. Generous servings of wine at both lunch and dinner. All inclusive alcohol throughout the day. Good theatre but, apart from Syd Lawrence Orchestra , quality of entertainment was mediocre . The big ‘But’ is for the shallow draft of the ship ( only 7 metres ) , which led to some very rough riding at sea, Force 8/9 for 48 hours west of Portugal and through the Bay of Biscay was a nauseating experience. Even in relatively calm/moderate seas there is noticeable movement in the ship, characterised by constant sideways shudder which was disturbing when trying to sleep.
