Great cruise on nice ship but sub standard service

The cruise lived up to expectations except that the food and beverage service was at times shambolic. Food served on deck was invariably cold and orders for food and drink were often wrong. The service in main dining room can at best be described as disorganised and shambolic. On one occasion we were shown to our table to be told that they were busy and we would get no service for at least 15 minutes. We weren’t even offered a drink! The menu in the main dining room was mediocre and unimaginative. We are generally very tolerant but we paid for a six star ship with six star service and the service we had would not have been acceptable on any ship! Hopefully Silversea had a blip on this cruise and that this is not reflective of a general lowering of standards to save costs. in the last 18 months we have been on Cunard (Grills suite), Oceania and Seabourn. Our experience on the Silver Spirit doesn’t come close to any of these competitors.
