It’s a case of ‘remember, remember, the 5th of November’ for fans of over 50s cruise line, Saga, with the date scheduled for the first sailing of new ship, Spirit of Adventure.
Saga paused all cruise operations in March as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, with sailings aboard the recently introduced Spirit of Discovery currently postponed until 1 September 2020.
Following the delays, a launch date for Spirit of Adventure has now been announced, with the new Saga Cruises ship set to sail from Southampton for the Mediterranean on 5 November.
Nigel Blanks, managing director of Saga Cruises, said: “We are delighted to announce the planned inaugural sailing of the Spirit of Adventure, our new luxury cruise ship. For her first voyage, the Spirit of Adventure will leave Southampton on November 5 to sail the Mediterranean, before returning to the UK.
“My team is in the process of calling all passengers booked on the inaugural cruise to update them with this latest development and we look forward to welcoming them onboard. We have been working with the industry and government to put in place state-of-the-art appropriate health protocols, putting guest safety first to ensure a return to service in the autumn.”
Saga recently announced that emergency medical treatment for Covid-19 is now covered as standard in their travel insurance policies. The cruise line includes optional travel insurance in its cruise fares, along with door-to-door chauffeur services, gratuities and more. Find out more here.
