The latest addition to the Princess Cruises fleet, Discovery Princess, is one step closer to welcoming passengers as sea trials have successfully been completed by the vessel.

The new Princess Cruises ship left the construction dock at Fincantieri Shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy, where she was put through her paces. Sea trials lasted five days, during which Discovery Princess had her navigation equipment, steering and propulsion put to the test.

The Princess Cruises ship is now back in the dockyard where further interior and exterior finishing will be completed. Her maiden voyage is scheduled for 27 March 2022, where the ship will depart the Port of Los Angeles for a seven-night cruise of the Mexican Riviera.

Discovery Princess will be the final Royal Class new build to join the fleet. She is the sister ship of Enchanted Princess, Sky Princess, Majestic Princess, Regal Princess and Royal Princess and will bring a wide range of luxury experiences to holidaymakers.

Boasting one of the largest balconies at sea, Princess Cruises promises guests staying in its Sky Suite 270-degree views of their surroundings. Discovery Princess has a maximum capacity of 3,660 passengers and 1,346 crew members.

After completing her maiden voyage, Discovery Princess will set sail on a series of Mexican Riviera and California Coast itineraries, running from 27 March to 24 April 2022. The new Princess Cruises ship will then head up the Pacific coast to undertake a season of seven-night Alaska cruises from Seattle.
