Still good but standards droppingUncategorised

We had a 35 day cruise to the Caribbean. Our ship the Oceana is a beautiful ship and the cabin steward and dining stewards made it a memorable cruise. The disappointment was the food, we ate in the serve yourself restaurant for breakfast and lunch where the choice and standard of meals were excellent, sadly this standard was not reached with the evening meals, the food was either exceptional or do…

Ok.....butUncategorised

We recently did a 35-night cruise on Oceana. The ship itself is beautiful, the waiters and stewards were absolutely amazing and we can’t praise them enough. However, we will feel P&O are losing the way. The Penny pinching ways are now so obvious. The Entertainment manager was hopeless as we’re his team. We were on 2nd sitting (8.30pm), we would go for a pre-dinner drink in the atrium at 7.30pm, an…

Before leaving on this cruise we discussed the late allocation of cabins (no allocation with only days to departure) with Wendy. She kindly arranged the allocation of A304 to allay the concerns discussed. Following the cruise, Wendy asked me to let her know what we thought of the cabin. I have also made other comments on the holiday which you may pass on to P&O. This is our first experience of Ass…

Sailing along on Royal Clipper is without a doubt a magnificent experience. What a pity that the rest of the Royal Clipper cruise experience falls well short of the standard we expected. Although this shop is all right, and we have sailed on her before, it is noticeable that it lacks a Crows Nest, Cinema and Ball room, which means that there is limited seating inside the ship in bad weather, only 2 instead of 3 shows/films in the evening and quite a small area for dancing in the atrium.
With regard to service the exemplary service given be the crew was marred by the slow service i…

Overall, we loved the Britannia and P&O for the service received. Having cruised the Caribbean with Celebrity for the past 13 years, we thought we would try P&O. Are we glad we did. Checking in our luggage at Gatwick and not seeing it again until our cabin in Barbados was a real bonus. We always ate in the main dining rooms. Saffron at Lunch and Cinnamon for Dinner. We prefer a table for two and regularly had to wait, which we don’t mind. What we do mind is after waiting, being shown to a table for two walking past numerous other empty tables for two. The organisation was for the convenience of the waiters and not the passengers. Interestingly enough we asked for a quote for the…

Just returned from South American cruise. Whilst the experience was wonderful, that was down to the venues and not the cruise line. Generally, P&O offer the things I am looking for on a cruise. I am not familiar with the short hop cruises but it appeared that the usually high standards that P & O set were relaxed for this cruise OR are P & O are starting to relax these standards OR are there different standards for different ships? Service excellent food really improved. We like the fact we can have a prawn cocktail and steak even when it’s not on the menu sometimes that’s all we wanted. Last year we were told not on the menu then it’s not available so that was an improvement. As a loyal P&O cruiser, like many others we are fed up of seeing the same acts. Excellent ship in every way. No low life, lovely passengers, and food, service, cabin and entertainment second to none. It’s a job to find those conditions on today’s cruise ships unless you go for the most expensive options. We are now even thinking of giving up Viking for Cunard. One downside. The thing that is always impressive about a Cunard cruise is that ‘they do it right.’ No frills, no gimmicks, but a thoroughly professional approach to ensuring they meet customer needs. This cruise to the Iberian Peninsula was no exception. We relaxed most of the time taking in the superb classical guitarist, the excellent production shows and enjoying the food in the Britannia restaurant. A …

What An Excellent CruiseP&O Cruises | Britannia

We have recently returned from a 14 night cruise aboard the Britannia in the Caribbean.
Due to the devastation from the hurricane, our itinerary was changed slightly and we were lucky enough to visit Curacao- what a beautiful place- we didn’t have to be back on-board until 9.30pm so we spent the evening sipping cocktails ashore watching the sunset. Curacao port was all decked ready for Christmas a…

Bad report not down to weather conditions but to poor service from a very officious reception to poor and or slow service in the all day restaurant and bars with waiters huddling together talking. Also food left out too long under heat lamps , all dried up and hard for breakfast.

The cruise became a mystery tourP&O Cruises | Adonia

We really like Adonia, but perhaps it was not a good choice to cross the Atlantic on in hurricane season. We seemed to spend a lot of time, skirting round hurricanes and storms, which led to rather a bumpy ship. This is not a complaint, as obviously no one can help the weather.

As we were ship bound for several days I was a bit disappointed at the amount of entertainment available, there was only …

Cruise ReviewCelebrity Cruises | Celebrity Constellation

A disappointing cruise as I think the standards on Celebrity Cruises have deteriorated over the last few years. People going into the main dining hall for their evening meal wearing shorts and t-shirts would not have been acceptable a few years ago. The activities, entertainment and the standard of the meals were also well below the normal quality of past cruises.

Great ship, great staff, visit to Amsterdam was enjoyable. However Le Havre was a different story. The ship wasn’t allowed to dock, a strike was on. That plus the people I met on board who had made the journey for sentimental reasons, made up my mind about France. The Captain was so informative and had a difficult situation. Great ship.

Unfortunately we have been classed as the rich lot, which we are not. Yes we have done a lot of cruises almost 30, but please Celebrity get you Chic night right. The first Chic night on board was dreadful, you had men coming into to eat in Jesus sandals tee shirts you name it, one woman came in an Anorak. To me this is not on but some people said that Chic night was OTT, this was their first cruis…

Silhouette is the Best Celebrity shipCelebrity Cruises | Celebrity Silhouette

First time on Silhouette, absolutely loved it. The crew and staff were so happy and friendly, the restaurants were exceptional, the Lawn Club an amazing innovation, especially for sailaways. Wonderful selection of music around the ship, especially Oceans 5. Theatre was very good, but visiting artists and some productions a little disappointing.
Overall a wonderful cruise.

Overall a friendly shipP&O Cruises | Oriana

A very friendly ship, very good food. The entertainment was perfect. Hardly saw officers about the ship mingling with passengers. The safes in the cabins are too low in the wardrobes, and not enough light to read instructions. A lovely ship but due for a thorough clean in places.

Mediterranean CruiseP&O Cruises | Oriana

Returned from this cruise on 20th September, having enjoyed it immensely. Oriana has benefited from her refit and we noticed the difference, the only problem was the vibration and noise from her propellers in the Oriental restaurant and the Pacific lounge. The food had also improved although we missed the Beef Wellington which used to be served on the last Gala night. The clothes in the on board s…

Pleasantly suprisedP&O Cruises | Oceana

An older ship which we went on some years ago, but we were pleasantly suprised by the condition of it. We had heard some poor reviews but like to make up our own mind anyway so didn’t think too much about them. The food was good, the Headliners theatre company put on some great shows and the service throughout the ship was very good. The entertainment manager was very personable and did a great jo…

Norwegian FjordsP&O Cruises | Azura

Not our cup of tea – first cruise most likely last.
Considering it was a cruise to the Fjords, most of the scenery past us by in the dark.
May have choosen a too large a ship with 3000 passengers on board as there was a lot of queueing, hustle & bussle, walking about, time in lifts etc.
Of the 4 days on shore, 2 were average not the feeling of being in the Fjords, but the other in Olden & Flam wer…

Mediterranean CruiseP&O Cruises | Oriana

First time booking with Bolsover Cruise Club and everything from the first phone call to going we were looked after. The service was exceptional. We loved the Oriana, our cabin was very quiet and being one deck above the stern pool deck C meant we could nip out to watch Oriana docking or for a quick swim very quickly.

As far as the ship’s facilities go, we loved the extra wide wooden promenade on …

British Ilses - May 2017Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines | Braemar

We had a fantastic time aboard Braemar in May on the British Isles cruise and we were so very lucky with the British weather. We had a Superior Suite 7027 and it was just lovely. We were totally spoilt. We dined in the smaller Grampian restaurant and all the meals on board were delicious and plenty of choice. I loved that there was plenty of room for everyone, lots of comfortable seating up on dec…

Room cleanliness was poor, including food left in a drawer by a previous occupant, steward wasn’t very attentive. Excursions seemed overpriced. Otherwise an excellent experience. All other service was excellent, notably Romeo of the Metropolis Theatre, and our dinner waiters Boney and Yasmina who were outstanding, the best waiters of all my cruises so far.

Food and service on P&O CruisesP&O Cruises | Ventura

While in general the food was good, I did not like being served frozen vegetables,= when on the menu it stated seasonal vegetables which I feel means fresh. I thought there was a shortage of staff in the dining room as the service was not what I have come to expect from P&O, taking up to an hour and fifty minutes to complete service. The dining room staff were smart and friendly and as efficient a…

Beautiful cruise on Celebrity EclipseCelebrity Cruises | Celebrity Eclipse

Just come back from a 14 night Celebrity Eclipse cruise. The ship was lovely, the balcony cabins were really nice and roomy. The staff were as usual fantastic and could not have done enough for you. If there was the smallest of things that were not right, the staff took immediate action to make sure you were completely happy, nothing was ever too much trouble. You always saw the Captain and office…

Back to Back 25th August - 17th September 2017P&O Cruises | Adonia

Having only cruised with P&O Cruises (28 times) we found this cruise one of the most relaxing. There wasn’t any rush to claim a sun bed, the Lido restaurant was not in anyway a “Smash and Grab” exercise and the food was in our opinion excellent, far above the standards of the rest of the P&O fleet and finally the crew were very helpful in all departments. Also many passengers whom we spoke to enjo…

Good value for money but could improve on Eastern Med 7 night cruiseNorwegian Cruise Line | Norwegian Star

NCL has offered us great enjoyment on a previous cruise of the Baltic and so we took the Eastern Med cruise from Venice with high expectations. The Zaandam is an attractive ship and at 60,000 tonnes, one of the smaller ships in the Holland America fleet. We sailed from Seward in Alaska in early September and arrived in Vancouver 7 days later. My views I am not easy to pleaseCelebrity Cruises | Celebrity Eclipse

Not the best cruise I have experienced. Food was good but not exciting and menus did not change often enough. Formal dress was in my opinion discouraged being described as “chic”, whatever that means. Library was full of American books despite the ship sailing out of Southampton. Evening entertainment was the worst I have experienced. One Welsh “singer” shouted rather than sang, he had people walk…

The crew and staff could not have been friendlier or better organised. The accommodation was comfortable and was cleaned quickly and efficiently. Would I go APT again? I most certainly would.

Smooth Sailing with Fred. OlsenFred. Olsen Cruise Lines | Braemar

Having never sailed with Fred Olsen before I was a little apprehensive for a few reasons. I was concerned that there may not be much to keep the kids entertained & that the passengers may also have been a bit put out by having kids onboard. I also thought that the shows would be quite low key and perhaps tailored towards the generation that Freds draws in.

My impressions did a total 360 degree fli…
