Sri Lanka Cruises

A paradise for wildlife enthusiasts, Sri Lanka offers numerous opportunities for observing a wide variety of species. The country's national parks, like Yala and Udawalawe, are home to abundant Asian elephants and leopards. Meanwhile, the coastal areas of Mirissa and Trincomalee are hot spots for whale watching, where frequently sighted species include blue whales and dolphins. The island, rich in avian diversity, is also a haven for birdwatchers. This remarkable biodiversity makes Sri Lanka a vibrant venue for wildlife encounters.

Set amidst emerald green landscapes, the plantations in the Central Highlands are a reminder of the island's British colonial past and the historical economic importance of tea production. The Nuwara Eliya district, often referred to as 'Little England', is a must-visit. The region offers panoramic views of terraced plantations, glistening in varying shades of green. At the plantations, you can witness first-hand the process of tea production. You'll see the tea pluckers at work, their skilled hands deftly choosing the finest leaves and buds. Then in the factory, you can learn about the steps of tea manufacturing, from the initial drying (withering) of the leaves, through rolling, fermenting, and finally drying.

Sri Lanka's history comes alive in its variety of preserved historic sites. Anuradhapura, the ancient capital, has well-preserved ruins and the revered Bodhi tree. Polonnaruwa contains masterful sculptures and enduring structures like the Gal Vihara. Sigiriya, an impressive rock fortress featuring a lion gate and striking frescoes, and the ornately decorated Dambulla Cave Temple, rich with Buddhist murals and sculptures, are further testament to the country's extensive historical legacy. Together, these sites offer visitors a deep insight into Sri Lanka's cultural heritage and ancient past.
