Holland America Line Opens 2028 Europe Cruises for Booking

Holland America Line has unveiled its Summer and Autumn 2028 Europe programme, with a collection of itineraries spanning the Mediterranean, Northern Europe, the Canary Islands and Iceland.

The season features four ships sailing across the region, including the return of no-fly cruises from Dover aboard Nieuw Statendam, Mediterranean voyages on Nieuw Amsterdam, Northern Europe itineraries aboard Rotterdam and the European debut of the newly enhanced Zuiderdam following its Holland America Evolution refurbishment.

Nieuw Statendam Returns to Dover

For UK holidaymakers looking to avoid flying, Nieuw Statendam will once again homeport in Dover throughout 2028.

The ship will offer a variety of no-fly cruises ranging from 10 to 29 nights, including voyages to Northern Europe and the Canary Islands. A new 11-day sailing from Lisbon to Rotterdam has also been added in March, giving guests another opportunity to explore Europe by sea.

Alongside these itineraries, guests can once again experience Northern Lights cruises, with departures available during both the spring and autumn seasons.

Rotterdam Returns to Norway and the Mediterranean

Rotterdam will homeport in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, while also offering selected departures from Reykjavik, Iceland.

Highlights include the return of the popular Heritage Fjords cruises through Norway and the 14-day Northern Lights voyage departing in early October.

Later in the season, Rotterdam will reposition to the Mediterranean, offering 10 to 11-day itineraries that can be combined into longer back-to-back holidays of up to 21 days. Ports of call include Lisbon, Trieste, Athens, Istanbul and Rome.

Nieuw Amsterdam Becomes the Mediterranean Flagship

Nieuw Amsterdam will become Holland America Line’s primary ship in the Mediterranean for Summer and Autumn 2028.

Guests can choose from sailings lasting between seven and 25 days, with a range of itineraries designed to explore the region in greater depth.

The programme will also continue to feature Holland America’s popular Collectors’ Voyages, allowing guests to combine multiple cruises into one longer holiday with minimal overlap between ports.

Refurbished Zuiderdam Returns to Europe

Following its recent Holland America Evolution enhancements, Zuiderdam will return to Europe for the 2028 season.

Guests sailing aboard the ship can look forward to refreshed staterooms and upgraded public venues, with the inaugural Europe voyage sailing from Rome to Barcelona in early April.

Zuiderdam will then operate a seven-day Barcelona to Lisbon itinerary before embarking on a 13-day sailing from Lisbon to Amsterdam, visiting Portugal, Spain, France and Ireland along the way.

The remainder of the season will see the ship sailing Northern Europe itineraries, including voyages to Iceland with departures from Reykjavik.
