Read MoreHolland America Line has revealed a new-look Ocean Bar aboard Oosterdam, introducing an expanded programme of live entertainment alongside a redesigned bar and lounge.
The venue is one of the first changes to debut as part of Holland America Evolution, the cruise line’s $500 million fleet enhancement programme, which will eventually encompass all six of its Vista and Signature Class ships.
More Live Entertainment at Ocean Bar
Central to the redesigned Ocean Bar is a new stage, allowing Holland America Line to broaden the entertainment offered in the venue.
Guests can expect performances from regional soloists and pianists, alongside Vivace Strings and late-night cabaret. The bar itself has also been relocated, while the seating and lounge areas have been rearranged to create a stronger connection between guests and the live performances.
The changes give Ocean Bar a more prominent role as an evening entertainment venue, while retaining its traditional function as a place for drinks and conversation throughout the cruise.
A Design Inspired by Classic Ocean Travel
The new design takes inspiration from the golden age of ocean travel, combining Art Deco influences with details drawn from Holland America Line’s maritime heritage.
Among the references is Rotterdam V, while bespoke furniture incorporates leather detailing inspired by vintage luggage and travel trunks.
Rather than replacing all of the venue’s existing furniture, Holland America Line has also refreshed pieces that still have years of use remaining. These have been reupholstered using fabrics containing recycled materials, alongside new furnishings created specifically for Ocean Bar.
Part of Holland America Evolution
Oosterdam is one of the first ships to undergo changes as part of Holland America Evolution, alongside Zuiderdam.
The programme represents the largest fleet update in Holland America Line’s 153-year history, with more than $500 million being invested across six Vista and Signature Class ships.
The project will introduce refreshed public spaces, expanded venues and new onboard experiences, drawing on some of the features found aboard Holland America’s newer Pinnacle Class ships. Additional staterooms and suites will also be introduced as part of the wider programme.
