After a real fight to get away, the paperwork, the restrictions for Italy and Montenegro we eventually boarded the ship.
Azamara couldn’t have been more welcoming despite having only 260 of the usually 700 passengers on board.
At times it seemed like the Marie Celeste but at least there were no queues and always an available seat by a window or in a bar.
The main problem was that we were only allowed to go ashore in Italy with an official tour and we couldn’t shop, buy a coffee or ice cream whilst ashore.
The tours were dragged out to fill in the free time we didn’t have and were full of Americans with no knowledge or interest in classical European History (or much else, to be honest!).
The tours were very expensive and the guides next to useless! The ship, though, was a delight.
Fantastic service, great food and so relaxing.
We’d love to sail with Azamara again, on the Quest or any other ship, but avoid the tours which means going when all the restrictions are over.
