Returned last Tuesday from a 9 nt cruise from Athens, calling at Chania, Crete; Paphos,Cyprus; Alanya & Kas in Turkey, then Rhodes & Mykonos, ending in Istanbul.
This was our first cruise on Journey, though we have been on Quest several times.
We were fortunate to be offered two upgrades, for a very reasonable sum and ended up in a Club Ocean Suite on deck 7, right at the front of the ship.
The extra space was great and the decor lovely.
We really appreciated the extra benefits, such as a special wine pairing dinner with the captain & senior officers and the fact we could dine in the speciality restaurants every night for no extra charge, if we wished to.
The Discoveries Restaurant was good the night we dined there, with the usual excellent service by the friendly and professional waiters.
The HorizonCafewas excellent for breakfast, though we thought there could have been more choice at lunchtime and the odd evening we dined there.
We didn’t do any of the ship’s excursions, except the complimentary Azamazing Evening, a musical performance in front of Paphos castle.
Lovely setting and very professional musicians and singers, though the choice of music was a little dreary for some.
We can’t speak highly enough about the friendliness of all the crew and the visibility of the officers, who often take the time to stop for a chat.
The weather was extremely hot so we did have a dip in the pool when we could, albeit small, though mostly we were ashore finding somewhere to get in the sea and cool off! Lovely itinerary; we especially liked Alanya and Kas.
One of the best cruises we have been on! .
