Not a cheap cruise but a chance to go into the Antarctic and the Falkland Islands.

Not a great success or value for money as it didn’t deliver what it promised.

It was 14 days from Buenos Aires with only 4 scheduled port stops.

Two off those were cancelled – Puerto Madryn because of engine problems (I understand these had been known for some time but the schedule was only adjusted at the last minute) and the Falklands because of bad weather.

The time in the Antarctic was really only two half days – one in Paradise Bay which was excellent with whales, swimming penguins and icebergs and very cold! The other was a sail by of Elephant Island.

So….an excellent crew but very much mostly sea time in stormy and cold weather, including gales, snow, and fog.

Celebrity could not change the weather but maybe they could have decided at Ushuaia whether to go to the Falklands first or on the way back, depending on weather patterns.

The warning should be that a cruise like this is very weather dependent – and you may see very little.
