This was a cruise we had been looking forward to all year.
Christmas and New Year on a cruise ship were definitely the highlights which based on the additional cost of travelling during this period were expecetd to be fabulous.
The cruise line had prmised through their promotional material that they are so professional that they can anticipate and surpass our needs.
Unfortunately, none of this turned out to be true.
The staff were at best miserable and at worst rude and incompetent.
The public areas were shabby.
The rooms were kept clean but seemd run down, with stains on bedding and towels and holes in the linen.
Christmas, well, what can I say.
It was conspicuous by it’s absence with minimalism put to shame.
One of the staff, when I queried the lack of festive decoration commented “this is a Celebrity Christmas” and laughed.
There was little service in the restaurants with our table waiting for food for one hour and then only getting some activity when a manager, on his rounds asked if everything was satisfactory.
My answer to which was, “no, not exactly, some food would be nice”.
The buffet was a nice space but the plastic glasses leaked, the napkins were not always clean and the cutlery was quite often in need of a good wash as the food from the previous diner was still visible.
As you can imagine, the complaints on the ship were rampant, so much so that when I asked for a complaint form, it seemed to be normal business.
I will not be travelling with Celebrity again and have written the same to them.
We so much wanted to enjoy all aspects of our cruise as the destinations were amazing.
The ship and crew let us down badly I’m afraid.
