Really enjoyed our cruise to the western med on the Silhouette.
First time on this ship but have cruised with Celebrity before, OK pros and cons:- Pros:- Lovely crew especially our stateroom steward and table waiting staff, could not do enough for you they really made our cruise memorable.
Food excellent as ever why you need to pay extra for the speciality restaurants I don’t know.
Just love the Solstice class ships, especially the lawn club and the Sunset bar.
The ports of call were on the whole good, loved Toulon, Ajaccio, Barcelona, and Lisbon, problems with the tours, more of which later.
Arrived in Southampton quite early but checking in was very easy and we were on board in less than 30 minutes, could not have been better.
Ordered a bottle of sparkling wine which was in our stateroom for sail away, excellent! Cons:- The price of some of the excursions was excessive.
We enjoyed our Corsica and Barcelona excursions, wonderful guides, could not praise them more, however, the Rome, Civitavecchia trip was overpriced and just awful, do not book for the lake and wine tasting trip unless you want to be ripped off.
Gibraltar was awful, wish we had stayed on board, not Celebrities fault but it is so tacky and the pollution is so bad, not a nice place to be.
Don’t like being hassled to buy reservations in the speciality restaurants when I’m just enjoying lunch in the OceanviewCafe The food in the Grand Cuvee is so good why would l bother? Disembarkation at Southampton, chaotic as ever and we were the only ship in port! Again not Celebrities fault but Southampton needs to get their act together, they get so much from cruise ship passengers, please make things easier.
I will just add the weather was awful, raining like a monsoon, we ‘lost’ one of our suitcases which turned up in the lost and found section don’t think the Celebrity tags are man enough for the job as there were LOADS of suitcases there, please supply us with better tags or make it easier to fit the tags into our existing plastic Amazon holders, other makes are available!! All in all though a memorable cruise and look forward to cruising with Celebrity again, probably on the Apex.
