Room: The room itself was nice with in-hull balcony.
However it was directly opposite the pantry that was used by the cabin stewards for food and drink service.
We also had some issues with vibration on a few occasions.
It was particularly bad on the first night and seemed to affect cabins on different locations in different decks rather than one section of the ship as this ship was so big i didn’t really expect this.
Food: generally good standard given the mass catering however service in the Britannia restaurant was really good but the overall service was terrible.
We had a table of 4 on the late sitting ‘ we would all arrive at 8:30 but be lucky to be out for 10:30 in time for the show.
Good job we all got on really well and didn’t mind chatting while we waited.
On more than one occasion tables around us were on their main course before we had starters.
Food was sometimes tepid by the time it got to us.
We did eat in Kings Court but was usually very busy and I didn’t come on a cruise to queue for ages with a tray and then fight for a table but we put up with this as though it was a one off.
There was a chronic shortage of cutlery.
We waited ages for knife’s and forks often getting the food before we had anything to eat it with!! Not what we expected on a luxury liner.
We went to the queens room for afternoon tea as recommended by Trish, when we arrived it was extremely busy we queued for about 20mins to get in when we finally got a table for 4 it was full of dirty pots and no tablecloth, we then moved tables and waited another 15minutes for teacups and a cup of tea, then a further 15minutes for a few sandwiches and cakes very very poor service.
Bars: Wine in the restaurants was very expensive but some cocktails are good value.
The practice of putting a 15% service charge on every drink is annoying and adds up over a few days.
However me and jay took our own wine for dinner and they just charged a corkage fee of $15 which was cheaper than buying there own wine.
We met gill smeal and P&O on the 1st night before dinner at 7.30 in the winter garden there was a lovely string quartet and they came round with little trays of canap??s.
We liked g32 nightclub in the evenings but service was hit and miss.
Entertainment/Activities: these were very consistent.
There was really good evening shows the 1st night with a very good comedian and the second night with a really good production show called “crazy in love” but one the 2 sea days the daytime activities were less inspiring. It seems geared for the older guests ‘ bridge, tea dances, knitting and line dancing! Presume its better on transatlantic.
we did visit the dog kennels on board very clean room however the kennels are very small, passengers can visit and walk there dogs on specific times allocated by the ship.
**however this review was for a 2nt quick turn around cruise that’s probably why the service was lower than the usual 5 star standard**
