Queen Mary 2

I was a little disappointed with my recent back-to-back transatlantic crossing on Queen Mary 2.

This was my 4th Cunard voyage and I was expecting a similar level of service to previous voyages.

However, I experienced belligerence from a member of the tours office and also truculence from some of the wine waiters.

It was very apparent that staff reductions had been made and this was particularly obvious at meal times when a wait of an hour to be served with the first course was quite normal.

Despite their best efforts it was evident that the waiters had far too many tables to service.

Having now completed more than 20 cruises I have a rough idea of what to expect from theatre shows and guest entertainers.

In my opinion the entertainment provided this time was of a very poor quality.

On a more positive note, my stateroom and my stateroom stewards were great! Because of 14 sea days and only one port of call I opted for an inside cabin and was delighted to discover that it was roomy and well appointed.

However, my overall recollection is that of a “dumbed down” voyage with a cruise line that has lost most of the charm that it had previously.
