This was a cruise of superlatives.
Firstly the efficient booking system allowed us to obtain the suite we wanted albeit 18 months in advance on the day booking ..a major advantage .
This was a very special cruise as advertised especially after the three Queens Liverpool visit in May .
We had some travel difficulties getting to Southampton because of traffic but booking in was rapid as we were greeted with an empty baggage hall as we were so late but the staff knew exactly who we were! Fly past by the red arrows was postponed but a great send off from Southampton and an equal joyous welcome into and out of Liverpool .
The concert in the huge Liverpool Anglican Cathedral was superb and very moving at times.
Departures from Halifax and Boston were fabulous especially the fireworks out of Boston.
We were blest with a smooth Atlantic crossing , excellent lectures and entertainment and of course the fabulous service and food that is Cunard’s trademark.
We had not travelled on the Queen Mary 2 before , and it some time to find one’s way around the ship.
The main self service dining areas were a bit congested at times compared with our previous Queen Victoria experience but quality and variety of food was what we expected.
the space in the public rooms was excellent to sit and chat and drink through the day.
It is great to have a few events where people dress up superb ladies dresses and the men did not look bad either I hope this Cunard tradition continues.
There were few concerns one that Cunard probably cannot do much about but the organisation of the queues to get USA Immigration at Boston was Cunard’s responsibility and was not done well with most of us waiting in excess of 2 hours for this exercise.
Passengers made their feelings known about this in no uncertain terms.
Secondly, the smoking area on the rear deck is just outside the windows of the Todd restaurant which really spoilt theAmbience of a nice meal.
Personally , I wish Cunard would make the ship ban all non smoking but I suppose not all would agree.
Has Cunard ever done a survey of their customers about this? I have to say the Todd restaurant did not wow us.
the service was excellent but we felt the menu a bit limited and not really much better than the Princess Grill at extra cost.
In contrast the alternative dining meals venues featuring asian and indian cuisine were superb and wish they did more.
We are so glad we didn’this cruise and rounded it off with four days in New York Thank you for your arrangements and efficient service we certainly will travel Cunard again but probably the Queen Victoria remains our favourite Photo of Leaving Liverpool attached Bob and Angela Pugh
