We sailed with Cunard Line on board Queen Victoria.
This was our first time on Victoria, having previously sailed on Elizabeth and Queen Ann, we treated ourselves to booking a princess grills suite on a guaranteed allocation. Our expectations due to age of the ship was below Celebrity Assent Suite which we sailed on in November last year. However the first impression as we got on the ship was better than expected, the elegance of the public areas was there to be admired, and showed no real signs off wear and tear. We was allocated an accessible princess grill suite although we are both fit and able, upon entering the our biggest disappointment was the bathroom facilities, no storage space for toiletries and was laid out as a wet room. The room itself although quite spacious with plenty of draw space but limited hanging space was looking very tired and was not the same reflection you had from the rest of the ship.
We dinned in the princess grills restaurant we had a table for two in pleasant location this was our table throughout the cruise for breakfast lunch and dinner, and we had a very good waitress that we built a good rapport with. The food in here was excellent with good choice throughout the cruise, so we feel the need to try any specialist restaurants
Overall we had a good cruise starting from Southampton and ending in Barcelona, weather was decent enough so we could get off on enjoy the ports off call.
We used most of the bars however we tended to use the queens room and commodore club the most, service in the queens room seemed a bit hit and miss however the other bars were good, the only comment I would make the drinks are pricey ie two standard gin and tonics $30 + 15% or draught beers $7 +15% , we’re not big drinkers so it was manageable
Overall the entertainment was diverse enough to able to find something you could enjoy.
Would sail on her again, probably yes, do you get value for money booking a grills suite in our opinion no, not when we compare it to the Celebrity X offering. (Age 66 & 65)
