Our cabins were quite basic compared with the next level but since we’d previously done this cruise 30 years ago on a semi-working ship we didn’t expect much.
Had I have realised I would have opted for an upgrade as trying to do this once on board was tremendously expensive.
From the brochure I was led to believe tea and coffee making facilities would be available in the cabin but this was not so.
The cabin was adequate but lacked sufficient mirrors and dressing table creating quite a challenge when drying hair etc.
The buffet breakfast and lunch were excellent with plenty of choices but the evening meal was a different matter.
It would have been better with simple food and more of it instead of trying to be too fancy and mimicking a luxury cruise ship which it was not.
The talks and excursions were excellent giving us insight into how Norwegians live.
The scenery is exquisite and for that and sighting of the Northern Lights was the whole purpose of the holiday and that we had in abundance and in my view the only way of exploring this wonderful coastline.
The crew were very helpful and friendly and I like the whole ethos of the Hurtigruten company
