It didn’t start well when one of our party’s suitcase didn’t arrive until an hour and a half after everyone else had collected theirs.
Eventually it turned up along with bags from Philadelphia.
There was limited representation from MSC at the airport so we were concerned around not getting on the ship in time and also had no idea where to go once we collected our bags.
We ended up on a very large queue to get onto a shuttle bus.
I found the balcony room dark and a little outdated.
The bathroom cupboards were MDF and chipped.
The size and balcony were fine.
We did have to request the bed to be made into a twin ,which we had requested
The room cleaner Lady Lynn was lovely and very through.
The communal areas were all very good and the bar staff and waiters were brilliant.
The entertainment and the staff were excellant.
The buffet was way too busy and I found it overwhelming.
The food was fine and plenty of choices but we had trouble finding tables at busy times and due to the number of people it was noisy and the staff struggled to keep up with clearing tables.
The black crab restaurant was crammed with tables and although the food was nice the portions were very small (1 piece of broccoli classed as vegetables).
Although our waiter worked very hard the service was slow.
One night by 10.20 we had still not had our main course, that was an hour and 20 minutes after we had sat down !!
Waiting for the tender to take us to Mykonos was chaos.
There was a delay but no staff conveyed what the problem was and the waiting area was absolutely rammed with people waiting.
Had MSC staff kept people updated it would have been acceptable but no communication what so ever was not acceptable.
We spoke to people who gave up and abandoned their trip to Mykonos.
What was really disappointing was a family with Irish accents subjected my daughter to homophobic abuse.
They made some very derogatory comments to her in the toilets and then when we were all sat having a drink they were staring and making comments to us.
I made a decision to avoid them for the rest of the holiday which we had to do in order to avoid any confrontation.
I wanted to report the situation but as were there to celebrate my daughters 30th birthday she didn’t want anything to spoil it and didn’t want any fuss.
I know MSC cannot be held responsible for some of its passengers but I suspect they had probably been further issues with this particular family.
Overall there were some good points but there were also issues I think MSC need to address.
