East Mediterranean Mature couple – First cruise Likes: The 4 year old ship’s quality of design, furnishing and finishes is amazing.
All the staff were excellent in every way and the attention to cleanliness in all areas was reassuring.
The food and it’s presentation was very good.
We were extremely pleased that we chose a cabin with a balcony.
The accomodation was very good but we were not aware, at the time of booking, that some cabins had an interconnecting door which reduces the sound insulation.
Dislikes : We chose our dates as we thought that schools would not be on holiday- Wrong!! There was a large percentage of babies, children and teenagers on board from Italy and France.
The passengers were multinational embarking and disembarking at all ports.
This made public announcements extremely lengthy and entertainment limited to non speaking acts.
The British culture of queuing and politeness was something not shared by many other passengers.
When dining in the restaurants, water, wine and even coffee were chargeable extras and were very expensive, as were all the drinks on board.
Drinks packages were available but both people in a couple must purchase and therefore they were not suitable for moderate drinkers or where one was a non drinker.
Photographers were snapping at every opportunity, even whilst you were eating, in the hope that you would buy an expensive souvenir.
The organisation to deal with thousands of people and enhance the earnings of the ship can only be admired, but to be part of such a large group being ‘organised’ does make acceptance and adjustment a little challenging especially when disembarking.
Tunis is not a worthwhile destination.
