I would like to give you my thoughts on our recent trip on NCL Escape.

We had a great time as we went with family but a disappointing time regarding NCL.

There was no ‘bubbly’ welcome aboard which was a shame as it was a new ship and something to be excited about.

Our stateroom ‘ what can I say !!! It was very small (the worst we have had) and situated under the bridge so we had a sloping porthole.

It was a very long walk for me, having mobility problems, to get anywhere, and also there was no chairs or settee in our stateroom.

Under the sloping window there was a boxed in length of board with cupboards underneath, which had no covering so we had no where to sit but on the bed.

Little cut-backs ‘ no chocolate on the pillow, no pad/pen, no shower cap and no tea/coffee facilities but we noted coffee machines in other staterooms.

Does OB guarantee and above grade mean no tea/coffee tray ‘ a bit petty? At our Muster Station we were chatting with a couple of ladies who had booked an inside stateroom for their 1st cruise and had been upgraded to a balcony.

How does that work ‘ we are silver Latitudes, which obviously doesn’t count.

I know we booked a ‘guarantee’ cabin but feel they allocated the worst one that they couldn’t sell.

At about 0400 on 28 October I was woken by an announcement in our stateroom calling Bravo team.

I got out of bed and opened the door and could hear alarms sounding.

It was quite a shock.

We then had another announcement ‘standing down’ Bravo which I understand means fire.

It was the talk of the ship next morning and people who rang reception were told by NCL it was nothing to worry about !!! I find that hard to believe at 0400.

Surely this should not have happened.

I found it hard to get to sleep after that.

Dinner was very good but breakfast was a disaster.

We waited nearly an hour for a cooked breakfast.

Upon enquiring how much longer it would be, the waiter advised us that the kitchen had lost the order.

We had no communication from NCL regarding restaurant opening times for breakfast and had to ring reception to find out.

Surely a note on the bed would not have been a bad idea.

We feel very badly let down by NCL.

We have been on Jewel/Dawn/Gem/Star and Jade and have never had experiences like we had on Escape We would definitely not travel on Escape again.

We are regular cruisers with all the major ‘players’ and this year have travelled on Anthem, Celebrity Eclipse and Britannia which were all very good but what have NCL done to service and professionalism?
