Our first time with Oceania (not to be confused with P&O Oceania!).
We are not keen on the new huge ships, so one reason for choosing this ship was the size- 66000 tonnes and 1200 passengers.
The itinerary took us to some smaller places – Sorrento , Amalfi , la Spezia, St Tropez, avoiding some of the big ports where other big ships were berthed.
We were very impressed by the excellent friendly service on board.
The staterooms were very comfortable with luxurious bedding and good-sized bathrooms.
There is no fixed-time dining and we never had to queue.
Tables for 2 were readily available if preferred.
As an alternative there were 4 Speciality restaurants at no extra charge.
We were allowed a maximum of 4 nights dining in those and they had to be pre-booked.
There was never a problem accessing a sunbed, even when at sea- a policy of not leaving stuff on them to “reserve” them seemed to work.
There is a large library with a good selection of books and seating.
Soft drinks and water were free but alcohol quite expensive, we thought.
Excursions were very expensive but plenty of information about the ports was available, and shuttle buses for those passengers whopreferred to explore independently
