Sirena

Sirena is quite a small and old ship (1999) but everything was gleaming and nicely appointed although the bathroom was tiny but well laid out.

The shower was particularly small.

The cabin decor was light with adequate storage with space and slippers and bathrobes provided.

The food in the main dining room was very good although not as excellent as we have found it previously on Oceania and the buffet choices were sometimes a bit limited, especially at breakfast.

The staff were exemplary and the (British) Cruise Director was possibly the best we’ve ever had over many years and many cruises.

There was a significant issue with one shore excursion where the guide thought he was conducting a long walking tour of the capital of Syros and was not aware that it should have been half walking and half a coastal coach tour.

This resulted in an extremely arduous walking tour which stretched the capabilities of some, with the coach tour added at the end following complaints, and made it into a much longer refreshment-free day than people had expected.

The other issue was flight timings.

A ridiculously early outbound flight from the UK on sailing day without our being offered the option of going the previous day with an overnight hotel, and on return, some passengers were taken direct to the airport by around 0930 for a 1900 flight.

Overall we did enjoy the trip but felt that these issues didn’t quite meet our expectations from our previous experience of Oceania.
