I would like to take this opportunity to provide you with some feedback on our experience in the hope that you can make improvements for future disabled passengers.
Firstly, we were very disappointed with the flight on Maleth Aero to the Caribbean.
The 2hr delay, lack of entertainment, and inadequate food and drink were unacceptable.
We arrived at the ship exhausted, frustrated and hungry, which did not make for a good start to our holiday, including not getting the chance to see Bridgetown
Secondly, the cabin was not suitable for disabled passengers.
The door was very heavy and difficult to open, and there was not enough room to move around with walkers.
The balcony door was also very difficult to open, and the step made it very difficult for us to get outside.
Due to most of the cruise being rough seas the cabins safety door was closed disabling use anyway
Thirdly, the lift system was diabolical.
We spent most of our time running to and from the available lift, only to be pushed and dodged by others waiting.
We would recommend a manned lift for the disabled, as this would make it much easier for us to get around the ship.
Fourthly, the theatre and restaurants were always booked up.
We were not able to book anything in advance, as we are not tech-savvy.
They eventually managed to reserve seats for us for four shows, but these were not the most popular ones.
Fifthly, there were not enough seats available for disabled passengers in the theatre.
Some of the seats were taken up by able-bodied people, and the attendee was not able to control this.
It was chaos.
Sixthly, the sun beds were always taken up with towels or bags, and there was never anywhere to sit in the sunshine.
Seventhly, there was no signage for activities advertised, such as card games.
We asked the restaurant staff where the card games were being held, but they did not know.
Eventually we were found and led round the back of the restaurant out of site.
Eighthly, once we were off the ship, we had to walk a long way to get to anywhere, hence we didn’t get to see much of St Lucia or St Kitts.
We would recommend providing a mobility scooter hire service for disabled passengers.
Overall, we feel that the ship is too big for disabled passengers to take advantage of what is on offer.
We were constantly queuing, being pushed out of the way, or ignored.
The only positive aspect of our experience was the staff, who were very friendly and helpful.
We hope that you will take our feedback into consideration and make improvements for future disabled passengers.
