Our 45th wedding anniversary cruise holiday was ruined by our battery operated wheelchair not being delivered on the first day with our luggage.
This was reported the first day of our holiday to the deck manager.
Despite efforts by the P&O flight and baggage manager, it could not be located and we were told they were not even sure if it had been put on the plane at Gatwick!!! A manual wheelchair was borrowed to us which was very hard for Mrs Ricketts to push and was very painful on her arms and shoulders having had surgery on her right shoulder and suffering anyway with damaged tendons on the left shoulder.
It also affected Mr Ricketts hands and arms helping to push it around.
Mr Ricketts also had to walk very painfully and slowly pushing the wheelchair as Mrs Ricketts had a job to push him along especially on the carpets.
The last but one stop of our holiday in Grenada.
Mr & Mrs Ricketts were informed the wheelchair had been found by their friends, Mr & Mrs Hale.
They saw another man in Mr Ricketts wheelchair and they asked him and his wife to go to reception to explain how they had someone else’s private wheelchair.
The man said the wheelchair had been given to him at Barbados airport, they were then put in a taxi and sent to the ship.
We were shocked that the wheelchair had been on the ship all the time and the staff were unable to locate it.
Very disappointed and upset our special cruise was ruined by incompetence,
