Crown Princess – 9th September 2013
Bernard Taylor | November 26, 2013 | Princess Cruises | Crown Princess
The delay in boarding at Southampton was due to an essential crew drill which was announced over the PA system. (Apparently the ship was not allowed to leave port until it had been held). Our boarding time was 12 noon and we boarded between 12 10pm and 12.20pm. Corfu was missed out due to the ship being diverted to a boat carrying Syrian refugees off Sicily. The Italian Coastguard requested medical assistance for them and a pregnant woman was embarked before being flown at 5am by helicopter to hospital in Sicily. (More details on You Tube). No difficulty in getting seating on deck, provided you arrived before lunchtime! Agreed, stop in Malta could have been longer. All members of the crew were friendly, helpful, efficient and tried hard. The evening shows were a little disappointing in quality and to get a seat entailed a rush from the dining room to the theatre. The ship was fully booked and so all the evening entertainment(s) were somewhat overcrowded.
