Our Caribbean Christmas and new year
Judith Torrington | January 16, 2020 | Princess Cruises | Crown Princess
It was our first time on the Crown Princess, its quite an old boat.
The balcony was rusty and not very clean, not a place you would want to sit and relax. We was given a Medallion as a form of entry to your cabin, same as the card but magnetic so if you have a pacemaker you cant us it, my husband has a diabetic pump so we sought advice, no one knew anything about that and we were told by a younger member of staff she thought it would be OK ? I explained the consequences of it not being OK so she said we could have a car, after 2 days it was established the card machine was broken and they couldn’t print them. I spoke to the cruise customer service manager, he was very helpful but I had to threaten to approach the Captain if they didn’t get me the Director, the manager was the best they could do. He was very pleasant and tried to help but no one knew we gave him the pump details but in the end he gave us a clip for Terry so it was no where near his pump and I got a bracelet, not that I wanted or needed one. We had no hot water for the first 6 days, had to wait until the ship was in dock and everyone was off to get it right, however, about 6 days before we left it started getting cooler again until we had a trickle of cool water for a shower, they left us a bottle of wine and strawberries covered in chocolate but we took the wine back. We got the pressure back but it was cool again. The seat in the International cafe were very grubby and Terry got a oil patch on the seat of his shorts after sitting to have a coffee. The food in the Horizon wasn’t great, it was like a self service cafe. The Engineer who came to look at the water problem was very apologetic but as I said to him you cant make a silk purse from a sows ear. A generator broke down on the second half of the cruise, we couldn’t call a Grenada so had a extra day at sea and 100$ back each person, very upsetting for some and on the day we disembarked we did a tour and on that tour was a couple from NZ who told us that on the next cruise, they was continuing for another 10 days, another island had been cancelled and 75$ had been refunded to everyone. We spoke with a few people who all told us this was an ongoing thing, it had been happening for months but the boat was in dry dock to be worked on, it needs scrapping to be honest. I will be writing to Princess Customer Service about all of this.
