Cruise to St. Petersburg
Thomas Richardson | October 10, 2014 | Princess Cruises | Emerald Princess
The ship was good, no complaints there at all. Unfortunately now all cruise lines are gettering bigger and bigger ships, several docking at a port at the same time, the crowds visiting the sights, especially in St. Petersburg were horrendous. We had ourselves been to St. Petersburg some years ago when, although busy, the crowds were nothing to the large numbers now. But it must have been very disappointing for lots of people who experienced for the first time the hurrying through the beautiful palaces by the Russian ushers placed in every room.
Also we were disappointed that the Captain cut out the docking at Stockholm. He said it was because of high winds and low water level but Celebrity Eclipse (same size ship) managed it. Also the covering letter given to passengers referred to our cruise number and two others. This gives the impression that Princess had no intention of going into Stockholm. As we had never been there before and were told about the wonderful approach, we were very disappointed with that decision.
