Disaster from start to finish

Unfortunately our cruise around the British Isles on Emerald Princess was not a great experience. It started badly with nearly 3 hours to check in even though we had completed all requirements on the Medallion App & having a rapid embarkation QR code! We stood with thousands of others waiting to check in due to technical difficulties! When onboard the food and service were not up to the usual standard and the ship obviously was was struggling with staff problems. Things went from bad to worse when my wife & I contracted COVID & were put in quarantine on a separate floor with other sufferers. This was understandable & neither of us were well enough to go out. Unfortunately the food & service went totally downhill! You were left on hold for hours trying to book food as you weren’t allowed to leave the room, but even when you got the food it was cold & sometimes inedible! The food was delivered in cardboard cartons, and lacking in any finesse or flavour. All in all this was disastrous from start to finish. Having said all that, the itinerary & entertainment whilst we were well were good. Shame about the food, drinks & service. Please do not buy a drinks package if you are a wine drinker as the selection available is abysmal.
