The embarkation was shambolic with no real leadership evident. Many were given a specific time to embark but this made no difference.
The food was good and the service from the crew in the dining rooms and state room was first class.
Having cruised mainly with P & O, we found the entertainment on Emerald was poor. There were no personalities either performing or giving talks, and the 3 shows with singers and dancers were below par. The musical entertainment was weak.
Charging for shuttle buses was a new experience for us, the first time in 22 cruises. At Barcelona we were charged 10 dollars each while the local bus service operated from exactly the same location for 3 euros per person return. The clever ones took advantage of this while those who trusted Princess would be fair, were caught out.The same situation arose in Marseille with a charge of 16 dollars per person return.
Despite being in the “elite” category, we are unlikely to cruise with Princess again following this experience.
