My Solo Caribbean Dream
Linda Watts | February 18, 2016 | Princess Cruises | Emerald Princess
My last cruise was on the Emerald Princess destination Southern Caribbean.
My journey started very early in the mornig with a trip to Heathrow boarding a plane for Miami. Settled in for the long haul flight and time to catch up on some sleep. This was my fourth crusie, but the first as a female solo traveller. Admitidley with a little aprehension, but familiar with the hotel in Fort Lauderdale and the routine of getting on board the ship the following day.
From setting foot on board I felt at ease, relaxed and ready for my holiday. This was a relativley new ship and had the wow factor atrium. Prior to leaving home I had pre booked tickets on line for a trip I was eager to do while in Aruba, and on arrival the tickets were in my cabin in an evelope ready and wating.
I didnt have to worry about a thing. At the hotel I had already met some fellow passengers who left me a telephone message in my cabin to invte me join them at dinner that evening and therafter throughout the trip. The cruise was everything I wanted I could be private yet have the oportunity to join in any of the events laid on without pressure. Food 24/7 was excellent with a good choice of dining and times. Entertainment was good with variety acts / show dances and tunes to easy listening bars.
My icing on the cake was the trip to Aruba when a ventured on a Horse riding trip along the beach. I felt like was an extra in a Clint Eastwood Spaggetti western. We cantered along the beach with surf running up to beach / hot sunshine with a lovely breeze & catci in the hills, we stayed on the beach for a rest and headed back to the ranch for a well deserved cool drink. You wiil see many iguanors walking along the beach in the local shopping area.
In summary this was so enjoyable I booked another cruise on my own later in the year on the Princess Ruby as I felt so at ease. I would urge anyone thinking of doing this to JUST DO IT!!! its safe so long as you are sensible and not wander of the tourist routes and you have everything under one roof so to speak for your leisure and entertainment.
