Alaska Magic

I have dreamt of going to Alaska for a number of years, I also wanted to go to Alcatraz so cruising from San Francisco to Alaska allowed to fulfil two dreams in 1 trip. I went with my friend in June 2013. Alcatraz was better than I expected, very interesting and eerie as the mist came in as we crossed the bay – you must book in advance of going to USA or you’ll be disappointed. The transit from San Fran up to Alaska was rather chopping – lots of delicate stomachs – but we were told it was a storm moving from Alaska down to Cali it was smooth on the return leg. Alaska was out of this world. My best ever excursion as dog sledding up on the Medenhall Glacier, worth every penny , it was so surreal, beautiful and I got to cuddle some puppies who were about 10 weeks old, the helicopter transfer up to the glacier was amazing – I would do the cruise just to do this again. Skagway was so peaceful, even this city girl wanted to stay which is very surprising considering it’s size – even met father christmas here! Ketchikan interesting visit to the bordello. I loved every minute of being in Alaska and will go back. Even my sun loving friend found it so relaxing she did not need a sunshine break last year. Victoria, Canada was a bit dull . Back to Alaska – excursions white pass railway, lumberjack show, gold panning, school bus tour round skagway , all great fun. Go, you wont regret it.
