Med 2019
Dave Brownstone | August 20, 2019 | Princess Cruises | Sapphire Princess
Just got back from 15 days around the Med. Up to 30C most days until we turned for home, so enjoyed that. Too many children in the pools to enjoy a swim, so didn’t.
As for Sapphire Princess [last on the ship in 2006]. Evening food was good * but lunch-time very limited coz I suffer from allergies to garlic, onions and chickpeas; very limited choice without any of those. And why do chefs add garlic to EVERYTHING except mashed spuds and mixed plain veg? * = Evenings, the Head Waiter gave me next day’s evening meal menu and offered a choice of anything and had it made it without my allergics, so well done there.
As to entertainment, what can one say? The cruise dancers/singers were good but how many times can one see the same thing? As for the solo entertainers – some good [Eddie the Eagle was interviewed and went on way after the end time, he was that good. Another comic was so dire that many walked out after a few minutes, his 2nd show was cancelled and he left the ship next day [no names, no pack drill!]
All in all, a good break, calm seas [and thanks to the captain for avoiding a Bay of Biscuits storm on the way back], interesting stops to visit – pity about my allergies [anyone with a cure, please let me know!]
