Our first cruise with Regent so we were very excited about joining such a prestigious ship and we weren’t disappointed.
Not only is the ship beautiful in every way but the cuisine, attention to detail and service are the best we have experienced (and we have quite a bit of that.) The most exhausting part of our holiday was the start of it by having to travel from Quorn to Gatwick at the unearthly starting hour of 2.15am but once on the way it was a real change not to be held up in endless traffic and then having arrived in Nice we had to spend quite some time looking round the city before joining the ship because it was facing a small delay due to refurbishment.
This was made worse by the fact the ship was late arriving in Monte Carlo but as none of it was anybody’s fault so we soon forgot about it after a night’s sleep in the comfort and service provided by the ship.
Our cabin was very comfortable and spacious with an excellent bathroom, dressing room and sitting area plus, of course, the balcony which was furnished with two chairs and a table which were brand new.
We are not forgetting the Queen sized bed which was very good to come back to after another interesting day of tours etc.
The places visited on the cruise were very interesting except for Albania which was a very rough looking place indeed and not one we would like to go to again – very similar to Romania!!! Our favourite was Split in Croatia where we had a talented guide who made our visit to Diocletian’s Palace come alive such was her enthusiasm.
There were tours every day – sometimes twice a day but we had a couple of days off to enjoy the facilities on the ship plus a recharge of the batteries as it was ‘full on’ otherwise.
The ship has ‘special’ restaurants that specialise in certain cuisine and we tried them all.
Once again, we were delighted with the food,Ambience and service – not forgetting the excellent wines available.
We particularly enjoy Italian and French food and were not disappointed in those restaurants – the staff making sure that it was an ‘occasion’ to be remembered.
We can honestly say that this is the first holiday when we were disappointed that we were coming home so thank you to all concerned for making the time spent on Mariner so enjoyable.
This cruise was a ‘special’ with regard to price and we shall certainly be looking out for another such holiday with Regent.
Many thanks also to Bolsover who saw to all the booking etc.
