An amazing cruise experience on a traditional ship

We had cruised many times before with P&O and Aurora is our favourite ship, smaller, more traditional and old-style. We chose this particular cruise itinerary as it included the Baltic ports which none of us had done before. We had to miss the first port Haugesund because of gusting strong winds and high swell, but that was not a problem, shore excursions were refunded & we were given a letter by P&O for a holiday insurance claim.
Oslo was our favourite port, an overnight stay meant more time to explore the beautiful city. I think Gydnia as a port was perhaps less pleasant with coal being loaded into trains alongside the ship.
The food was excellent, the service brilliant, and the cabin had a good amount of space and storage with the enclosed balcony which we liked very much. Only downside with the balcony was that my husband & I had cabin next door to our daughter and son-in-law, and we had understood that the balcony divider could be removed so we could all be on the balconies next to each other with no divider, but the cabin steward said the supervisor had told him this could only be done in port and when at sea the divider had to be in place for safety reasons.
Our son-in-law had never cruised before and was not sure if it would be “too posh” or “too much for older people” but by day 4 he was convinced, and asking shall we save up for another one?
All round, it was a lovely holiday! P&O and Bolsover made it smooth and seamless to book, choose cabin and answered any pre-trip questions.
