We had a disappointing on board experience on Queen Victoria’s Grand Voyage around South America last year. When this cruise to the Western Mediterranean became available, we decided to give Cunard another chance to redeem themselves. Our last trip on Queen Anne was two years ago in a Club balcony cabin, the Club restaurant being one of the highlights. Based on that we chose the same cabin grade this time. This time the extra cost wasn’t worth it. We felt that there were more tables in there, so reducing your personal space. Service was erratic at times probably due to this. The waiting staff were put under more pressure than they should have been. Food quality was inconsistent. They even ran out of tomato juice at breakfast on the penultimate morning! The supervisor had to source it from somewhere else. Along similar lines, later that day two of the bars had no lager. Cunard needs to seriously look at what their competitors are offering and make an all round improvement to the White Star product. We certainly have no plans to travel with Cunard again.
