We sailed with P&O Cruises on board Britannia.
The food was very good, service in main restaurant’s also good. We booked and paid for a meal in the Epicurean as we did last year which was brilliant, this time we did not enjoy the experience as much as last year and would not bother again. We had a problem in the cabin with a kettle it would not switch off at boiling point and kept on boiling, to stop it I had to remove it from its base with with a towel to prevent a danger of scalding, you had to reach over the kettle to unplug it. We reported it to reception and the receptionist said it was dangerous and it needed to be replaced and would arrange a replacement. We left the kettle unplugged and went out for the evening on returning to the cabin the kettle was plugged in and we assumed it had replaced. Next morning once again the kettle boiled over and clearly it had not been replaced, we reported this again to the cabin steward and reception. The kettle was eventually replaced later that day. If that faulty kettle had been left unattended and boiled dry there could be a danger of it causing a fire, it clearly had a faulty thermostat.
We were surprised at the number of young children on board give that its generally term time. Embarkation at Southampton was a nightmare mainly caused by the number of coaches arriving at the same time and these passenger’s having priority boarding causing the system to back up.
